1 of 1 found this helpful Over the past 6 years, this is my fourth Pentax from the OPTIO series, second in the W (waterproof) series. These cameras have all the right features, they are fast, they never break, and the quality of the Pentax optical lenses are amazing. I always have one within reach, 24/7. I have given away the three previous ones, and they are still in use after tens of thousands of images.
The WS80 is by far the most sporty of all, lightweight, compact, nice to look at, easy to use. In my active lifestyle, this camera will be used to shoot video and stills of surfers, underwater snorkeling in tropical waters, landscapes, plates of food, and all my favorite sports. The camera will also double for rugged on-the-job photography of construction of a high rise hotel.
I get extra value from the 'interval shooting' to create accelerated motion videos, which I love, and have been used for many big-screen presentations.
I wouldn't have considered any other camera, except the W-80, which has 12 mP, is a little larger, and is possibly more robust with its stainless steel enclosure.
This camera has superior battery life per charge, and overall life, in comparison to my wife's Canons, my parents Kodak, my daughter's Sony, and my son's Sony.
The green mode feature will give you a great photograph every time you press the shutter. The programmed modes are just enough to take advantage of the camera's full capabilities, and it even allows you to make your own program mode, and to modify the pre-programmed ones.
I was so happy to find it on eBay at half the price it is in the "big-box" stores locally.

l like this older recipe better than the new ones with fruit flavors...for me they are more effective for the occasional sour stomach.
