Replacement video card
My HP Compaq 8710w laptop died. After looking for a good replacement, the only option looked to be to buy a new $2k to $4k laptop, probably at the high end of the range to get the screen resolution and size I wanted. That did not seem very appealing, but at first I did not see much other choice.
The HP machine is quite good for my use, but it did not seem likely that it was worthwhile to repair. Still, the failure seemed like a video card failure. So, I looked to see if I could find a replacement. Since the price was good, before buying a new machine I decided to buy this used video card as a throw away if it did not work for me. The result was perfect. The card just worked and the machine is as good as it ever was.
I would like to thank the people who provided it for giving me a very good value.

Good light quality, dimming suport could use work
Pros: The light from these bulbs is very good. They are a bit bigger than a normal incandescent bulb, but they will likely fit in most fixtures. They look quite good in my fixture.
Cons: The bulbs do not dim well. With very little dimming they flicker badly (really, they turn on and off on a human time scale).
My original dimmer was very old. Replaced with a Lutron Skylark Contour C.L Dimmer Switch for Dimmable LED, Halogen and Incandescent Bulbs, Single-Pole or 3-Way, White from Home Depot. The behavior was identical between my old dimmer and the new Lutron dimmer, which is specified to work with LED lights.
