Topeak SmartGauge D2 Digital Air Tire Pressure Gauge TSG02 Presta / Schrader
    Aug 30, 2016
Accurate, Reliable and with Lots of Features, But a bit too Complicated
This is definitely the king of digital pressure gauges. I like the single valve head with a slide switch for selecting presta vs. schrader - it makes the operation with each more reliable (and is simpler to deal with vs. a dual-headed gauge like the SKS Airrchecker since, on the deal-headed ones, I'm always trying to figure out which head is which). As with any gauge you need to learn the best way to get it on and off of the valve stem without losing much pressure. So practice with this gauge is no different than any others. Otherwise this definitely is the most complex gauge to use - there's an on/off button (which doubles as a reading reset), a pressure units selection button, a button for allowing the pressure reading to vary while holding it on the valve (which is used with the next button), a pressure relief button and the valve type slide switch). So there is a learning curve but once mastered it works very well. However, I am not sure why it needs a button to allow the pressure reading to vary (the SKS Airchecker does this automatically) or why you need to use the on/off to reset the reading (again the SKS does this automatically). If the SKS was as consistent & reliable in its use vs. the Topeak it would be my top choice (otherwise I use the SKS for traveling since it is much thinner and easier to pack). So the Topeak should be top choice for gear weanies, others that would rather fiddle with less buttons would do just fine with the SKS Airchecker.

Lite Gear Tri-Fold Garment Sleeve - Black Garment Bag NEW
    Jan 09, 2017
Fits Carryon Luggage Great, But a Little Overkill
Fits my Eagle Creek Tarmac 22 better than Eagle Creek's separately-sold garment sleeve (huh?). It is also very nicely made with durable-feeling materials, a metal hanger hook (Eagle Creek's is plastic) and two anti-crease "rolls". Otherwise it is a bit overkill for something I only intend to use packed away in a carryon bag (i.e., it has a carrying handle, 3 pockets and 2 quick-release buckles to hold it closed, all of which leads to about 1/3lb. of extra weight...I know - not much, but it all adds up).
SKS Airchecker Presta / Schrader 144psi Bicycle Digital Tire Air Pressure Gauge

Light, Small & Simple but with a Few Issues
As the title says this is light, small and mostly simple to use especially vs. the more-advanced Topeak Smartgauge D2. However it also doesn't work quite well as the Topeak gauge: 1) the head doesn't fully swivel so it is difficult to get it into the best position to view the reading while the gauge is still on the valve stem...to make sure you had it on the valve fully/properly before removing it), 2) the two-sided valve head means there's always a moment of confusion about which end is which, and 3) the presta-only end of the valve head is a tight-fit so it's difficult to get it on/off without a lot of air loss. The Topeak gauge has none of these issues but it is more expensive, and has more buttons so it is therefore a bit more confusing to use (and is much bigger even if this gives it a more secure feel). In the end I own both: the Topeak is my every-day shop gauge, while the SKS is my travel gauge. And both seem to be very accurate in their pressure readings. So you really can't go wrong with SKS especially if you want a smaller/simpler and less expensive digital pressure gauge vs. the Topeak.
