Homer Laughlin Virginia Rose Pattern
Homer Laughlin was/is a very prolific producer of pottery and dishes. The old collectibles of today were sold through department stores, dime stores, green stamp outlets and even gas stations. My mother told me many gas stations either gave them to customers as a premium for filling their tank or offered a deep discount for the same.
The Virginia Rose pattern actually refers to the dish shape and embossing around the edge.
The Virginia Rose Pattern had one of the longest run spans in the Homer Laughlin history, from 1932 to 1968. It was used with many different decal designs, the most common of which were Moss Rose (decal #JJ-59) & Fluffy Rose (decal #VR-128). The Moss Rose is on the pieces shown here for this review (if ebay keeps them displayed).
The stamp on the bottom under the glaze (in this case C43N8 on the sugar bowl) denotes the month & year of manufacture (C43) and which factory produced the piece (N8). Sometimes the decal pattern number will be on the bottom looking like a surface ink stamp but, it was not often done. When searching out pieces for your collection, you must remember a mental picture of the decal you're looking for as it more often is not marked on the pieces.
In this case (if ebay displays the price in the review), the price was very reasonable at about $20 for the pair of sugar-bowl with lid and creamer. They often go higher depending on who is watching your auction. Items found in antique stores are frequently over priced.
I only know this information because I've been collecting the Mossy Rose for a number of years (I'm frugal so it's taking me a while) and I almost have an 8 place setting collection completed. This review written in Feb-2016.

It's ok, for a counterfeit at it's price
1 of 1 found this helpful It is not a real Ontario RAT knife but a Chinese copy. The pictures show correct logo and country of origin. When you receive yours, you'll have to look real close to see the tiny writing in the logo is misspelled and country of origin is manipulated. TaiWan instead of Taiwan. It appears to be of decent quality and if your ok with a copy, it is about half price of the genuine product. Also, all the clip mount holes on mine were not threaded (quality control) so you may not able to move the clip to where you want.

As It Is in the Days of Noah, by Noah Hutchings, book
I read this book a few years ago but loaned it out, you know how that goes, so I bought this one for my mother.
Excellent reading. Not polished but very interesting. As you read you will get a personal history of Noah Hutchings' life, a bit of U.S. history from a personal view along with the story of the Southwest Radio Church Ministry with Noah Hutchins at the helm. I met this man once, very humble, very polite and VERY knowledgable. See their web page at www.swrc.com
This is an excellent ministry that is KJV only and prophecy based and covers current events in that respect. At the web page you can find a list of radio stations around the nation that carry their daily program (Watchman on The Wall)and now you can also listen to audio stream online.
