About
I'm the Snap-On F71 junky! They are my vice, my addiction, my thing! Snap-On had three different tooth count variants offered 20, 30 & 40 tooth gear wheels. There were industrial finish models GF & PF codes, and their standard non-industrial models F71 to F71G. There were even Canadian made variants offered as well. Fascinating history and model variations! Respectively well ahead of their time from 1948 all the way up until 1976. The F-71 rats had over a quarter century run. With a doubt, one of Snap-On's most desirable 3/8" drive ratchet wrench during that time period. - j*snapโ๏ธ

Snap-On FL-721 ratchet wrench
I installed repair kit RKRAF730 to upgrade this guy from a 20 tooth to 30 tooth. It is now back in working condition once again. This one could also accept repair kit RKRAF723 to add the quick release feature as well, but I decided instead to not go that route, and kept the sealing head cap to help keep the lubrication from seeping out of the head, as you would have with the quick release kit. The slightly longer handle is good for busting those stubborn rusted bolts loose...leverage, it's all about leverage! Solid ratchet wrench, made in the USA!๐บ๐ฒ๐

Snap-On LSF-720A ratchet wrench
These are known as a 1/2" drive compact ratchet, as it uses a 1/2" drive anvil compacted into a 3/8" ratchet body. There were both 20 and 30 tooth count variants made. They were first available around the mid 1960's (SF-710 model). The "L" in the LSF-720A model number designates that it is a plastic handled model, verses just SF-720A which is the same model, minus the plastic handle. These were discontinued many years ago, for obvious reasons. While they are handy if you need the larger 1/2" drive in a small tight space, there aren't many practical applications where you have that type of situation. I mean, there are so many other better tools to use for this particular application. So, while these don't have as much of a practical user purpose, they do make cool collection pieces. If you snap off a tooth, I do believe Snap-On still does repair them. But the repair kit is very difficult to find, if trying to purchase without going through S-O. It is kit RKRASF730. I have been fortunate enough to have acquired these repair kits, however I spent years looking for them and have recently finally found them through Ebay.

Snap-On F723A ratchet
A nice 20 tooth ratchet, upgradable to 30 tooth using kit RKRAF723, the 30 tooth version repair kit. The original repair kit for this ratchet were 20 tooth. The quick release is a handy feature to have, though imo the trade off is quick release for anvil sheer off strength. And of course the mechanism isn't sealed beings the head cap is replaced for the q-r button. The condition of this particular ratchet is in excellent shape as advertised. A nice 3/8" ratchet!๐
