Maglite Minimag - 2 AA battery model
I’ve been using these for years, and like them much better than the newer LED lights. Something about the color of the light just works better for me than the bright white of the LED’s. I work on cars every day and the Minimag is my first choice. One thing I like about it is that it fits neatly in my mouth, (it is totally sealed against moisture) so I can focus the light where I need it and still have both hands free. That’s a great advantage when you’re upside down under a dashboard. The small LED light I have is too big to do that with. You do have to have a good supply of batteries if you’re not using rechargeable, but I don’t mind that. I also love that you can buy every part for these things and keep them going for years. In mine I’ve replaced bulbs, reflectors, lenses, and o-rings to fix all the common problems. My main problem with them is losing them by leaving them in a customer’s car! I just bought three new ones - I like to have them always available.
