A Great TOS Movie-Era Reference Book
I expected this to be a novel describing the ins and outs of the Enterprise from the perspective of ol' Scotty, with an occasional deck plan or two for pictures. I was wrong. Instead I get a full reference book of information, room layouts aboard the ship, blurbs of info pertaining to parts of the ship, and the suits and badges of the crew members. Originally I thought it would have plans and layouts of the TOS Enterprise, but this is only the Enterprise's refit being discussed (from Star Trek I-III), with a short chapter dedicated to the Enterprise-A (which is not the same thing, fyi), which is what the cover means by containing material from Star Trek IV. Either way, I am glad to have received this book. If you're a TOS fan like me and you find a copy, pick it up; you will not be disappointed. Highly recommended!

TOS Must-Read Novel
In my high school library, there were two Star Trek novels: this, and a TNG novel. This one was the first Trek novel that I've read, and I knew little to nothing about the franchise. This is a compelling novel that goes into detail about a mystery surrounding the Enterprise crew during the waning years of their first 5-year mission and the accidental destruction of a civilization, which is the reason why it is titled "Prime Directive". Written by hardcore Trekkies themselves, the authors have penned over twenty Trek novels, as well as co-written ten novels with William Shatner himself, a novel on the cancelled "Star Trek: Phase II" series, and many other sci-fi novels, all of which have gotten mostly positive reviews, and for good reason. Pick this one up.

The Early Adventures of Hal Jordan
As a fan of the Green Lantern comics (& DC Comics in general), I wanted to read the early adventures of Hal Jordan, the second Green Lantern to be introduced (the first being Alan Scott). So I bought it &, while I haven't read all of it yet, I really do enjoy the parts of it I've read already. Of course, do expect some cheesy exposition, because it wouldn't be a Silver Age trade paperback without it! Also, there is a warning in the book about a bit of racial stereotyping, which I'm willing to endure, because it doesn't really hurt the stories being told, but it shows the poor aging of older comic books. Overall, I'm really happy with my purchase, & I'm looking to pick up Volume 2 & maybe some of the modern GL comic TPBs (looking at you, New 52).
