Seller was very responsive to questions and went above and beyond to provide info on optional lenses. Great value for what I paid. Packaged well. Condition was as described or better. Would definitely buy from this seller again.

David Busch's Sony Alpha Nex-7 Guide to Digital Photography by Busch, David D.

A Well Done Guide
Oldie but Goody guide to a non-recent camera. This book is in the middle of a long succession of books detailing the background and operation of specific cameras. Perhaps fifteen percent or more of the text is rather like boilerplate as some information applies to almost all cameras. But this is not a bad thing. Once you are familiar with the manner and style of organization and presentation, you can use any of these books effectively to either get up to speed or dive into the details of what the subject camera is capable of. The books are very well edited with strong writing and few, if any, spelling or grammatical miscues. The tone is both sophisticated and light, and the text is info-dense, while being extremely readable. There are just the right number of graphic illustrations. Tangents are avoided and the material a person needs to know for operational purposes is included.
NEW OPEN BOX LYTRO ILLUM 40 Megaray Light Field Camera 8X Optical Zoom
Jun 28, 2016
A New Paradigm
The Lytro Illum is a triumph of design and functionality. The interface is direct and well considered. The camera was designed and manufactured to sell for around $1500 so the presentation and finish are top notch. And if you take some time with your photos, the results can be effective, maybe startling. The camera appears to be at the end of its production cycle and no follow-up is expected, hence the recent pricing. There are extensive training videos on how to set up and use the camera and as of June 2016 there was still e-mail support. My interest in the camera was to produce 3D photos and the output is very good both printed and on-screen - I use the red/blue glasses but there are other options for 3D. Theoretically the camera would be excellent for macro work. The problem is that since the camera is so unlike other cameras, there is a non-trivial learning curve. Others have noted software crashes but my experience has been good if not perfect. Note that the files are in a proprietary format (although they can be exported, edited in PS or whatever and then imported) and you need to use the Lytro software to edit and process the Lytro files. It requires determination to become proficient with the hardware and software. This camera will be no threat to other cameras in terms of resolution (although it is perfectly acceptable to many applications) but it will produce photos you can almost walk around inside of. It made me think about composing in three dimensions and I take that experience back to my normal shooting. So if you have some time and are intellectually curious, this camera which is selling at less than 20% of its target price may help you see a scene in a new way. Just do not expect to pick it up and do something interesting without being willing to put in some work and concentration first.

Fujifilm X-T1 16.3MP, 18-55mm F2.8-4, Battery grip, Flash- Black
Mar 02, 2021
Perfect Balance of Fun, Functionality and Price, the Fujifilm X-T1 in 2021
The Fujifilm X-T1 is perhaps the best value today in the X Series, lacking only one film simulation from its more expensive brethren. If you are doing work that only requires the sixteen megapixels (and seriously, this is about everybody doing generic photography), this model will probably be everything you require. Although the X line of lenses is excellent and reasonable, I am using my X-T1 with adapters for lenses from other brands which means I am committed to manual focus. For this, the X-T1 has a dedicated Focus Assist button which makes focusing easy and accurate. The X-T1 fits well in the hand and is an extremely attractive camera, if you like the retro/rangefinder style. It is a very handy "grab and go" camera and a lot of fun to shoot. The only thing missing is a built in flash, but the camera ships with a small flash unit which is widely available aftermarket if you purchase the X-T1 body only.
