    Makita XCV11Z 18 Volt 2 Gallon Brushless Wet/Dry Dust Extractor/Vacuum,Bare Tool
    Aug 12, 2021
Weak motor and 18v can't carry it very far...
I bought this vacuum to use for small clean up jobs from punch list tasks (commercial construction). Initially it worked "ok", but the drawback is, once the filter (or prefilter) gets coated with drywall dust, the suction drops off dramatically. I'm using a 5.0ah battery, fully charged, and frankly it really doesn't have legs in "HEPA" tasks. Using it for coarser materials like sawdust or basic dirt it's a bit better. Fine concrete or drywall dust, forget it, don't bother as you'll barely coat the filter and the under powered motor can't draw vacuum through that. If this was a 36v and had twice the motor, it'd likely be the whip. As is, had I been allowed to "trial run" it, I would've passed on the purchase. To add, I'm a die hard Makita fan, pro carpenter for over 30 years and have many, many of their tools with umpteen batteries. This one disappoints.

Corded Power in a battery saw
I am a pro carpenter (26 years) and have the corded reciprocating saw made by Makita. Wanting a quick compact model for demo and small jobs, I decided to buy the battery powered unit once it went brushless. Wow This thing is very solidly built, has plenty of power and holds the blade well. I would say that other than oscillating stroke not included (like my JR3060T) it is every bit the saw the corded version is. Battery life is decent with a 4.0Ah and ok with a 3.0Ah. I don't own a 5.0Ah battery so can't comment on run time using that. I'm currently using it on a whole house demo (gut and remodel) and have put it through the paces. So far, it has done anything / everything I demand of a corded saw. Don't hesitate if you're unsure of it's capabilities, it's a great unit.

    Sony STR-DH550 725W 5.2-Ch Full HD and 3D Pass-Through A/V Home Theater Receiver

Quality surround sound receiver for low cost.
Using this unit for about two weeks now, it replaced an early model Sony (20+ years old) surround receiver that finally died (and had no HDMI). Hookup was simple a straight forward. The speaker calibration with included microphone was easy and worked without a hitch. Newer tech remote doesn't need line of sight to operate. On screen menus are reasonably intuitive and easy to use. Great value!
