Watching the series but not enjoying it as much as anticipated.
1 of 1 found this helpful I think Helen Mirren is a wonderful actress, and this series has won many awards. My husband and I have been disappointed in the viewing experience for several reasons. The murder cases are quite complex with several concurrent story lines and far too many people involved, both on the criminal side and the law enforcement side. Jane Tennyson(Helen Mirren's character) works in a different division with different people in every episode, so there's no continuity.
We prefer a series like "Foyles War" where the criminal cases are challenging but not like finding your way through a maze. Also, Foyle and his assistants remain constant in the series, so you have better character development.
