Weird and Wonderful
Way back in the day when you could make a game about literally "anything", this curious little gem came along. The story is absurd, your character is mummy with a head in his stomach used for punching, and you have a second head used as a projectile. Jumping and smashing enemies is satisfying. Only gripe is that when you die, you go all the way back to the *beginning* of the stage!
All in all though, if you're tired of derivative games, give DECAP ATTACK a try.

Number 3 is superior
I really want to like THUNDER FORCE II. The horizontal scrolling sections are awesome and have that familiar THUNDER FORCE flair, but these alternate between overhead stages that, rather than being standard vertical scrolling sections with fixed paths, allow free roaming. Finding where you're supposed to go in these parts can be a pain to say the least. THUNDER FORCE III is far better, but II is not too bad for collectors.

Classic Konami Game
Here's another game that came during the popular "small woodland animal star" phase that brought us such bombs as AWESOME POSSUM or AERO THE ACROBAT. Unlike those games though, ROCKET KNIGHT is actually good, very good in fact. But hey, it's Konami, so we'd expect no less, right?
