Excellent Reel for Lightweight Lures
2 of 2 found this helpful The new Aldebaran BFS XG is an amazing reel for throwing lighter lures and light line finesse fishing. It won't replace your spinning tackle for super light baits or windy days, but it's awesome with reasonably light baits that bigger baitcasters struggle with. They are expensive but good deals can be found on ebay if you keep and eye on them. Keep in mind the reel holds only a small amount of lighter fluoro or mono line so if you are looking to use greater than 8lb test this isn't the reel you need. It does hold plenty of 6 or 8 lb line and also 20lb or less braid. At only around 4.9 oz it is one of the lightest reels ever made and is a pleasure to fish all day when coupled with a high end, light weight carbon rod. The reel cast like a dream and is super smooth - sort of like a smaller, lighter version of the Metanium. Another great reel by Shimano!!!

Nice heavy duty reel with great line capacity
Nice reel. Haven't used enough to discuss long term reliability but so far it casts well, holds enough large diameter line, operates smoothly etc. Especially good if you need to use 80 lb braid or 25 lb fluoro or mono. Also has a nice power handle with large knobs for cranking on big fish with big baits!

Awesome Reels!
Awesome reel. Super smooth and easy to adjust. I've got several of these and would recommend them to anyone willing to pay this price range for top of the line equipment!
