Living real close to power lines, I was curious as to how much EMF I was getting in my house. This unit pretty much told me that most of my house was in a "Hazard" zone. I mounted the meter on my bicycle handlebars, and rode around the neighborhood. I got high hazard reading and lower readings depending upon where the power lines were, and how close I was to them. This unit does work. However I had to go onto the web to learn about the H-field and the E-Fields because the paper included with the unit doesn't tell you. The red LED flashes in your eyes as you try to read the screen, it's kind of bright, so I would cover it with my finger. The beeping sound is very is almost too quiet to hear. It would be nice if the unit had a way to turn off the blinking LED, and to be able to adjust the sound would help too. However, for the price I paid for this unit, it is worth it. I learned much about my environment using it.

GMC-320 Plus Geiger Counter
8 of 8 found this helpful I did lots of searching and reading about the many Geiger Counters out there on the market. They range from old to new, cheap to expensive, and complexity or simplicity. I bought the GMC-320 because of the price and specs. This unit has a lot of "Bang for the Buck". This unit is simple to use, and has a long rechargeable battery life. As soon as you turn it on, it will show you the background radiation in Counts/second & uSv/hour. You can also select to show a graph images. This unit also acts as a Data-Logger. You can plug it into your computer, and with the downloaded software, you can view the data on a larger screen with a time stamp. I have seen some negative remarks about the unit's selector buttons, but I don't have any complaints about them. I guess if you handle this unit roughly, you may damage them, but hey, it's a delicate instrument, you don't want to drop this unit as it does have a delicate internal glass tube. I wanted to be able to detect any dangerous radiation in food or my home and surroundings, after reading about the Fukushima disaster. I am happy with this purchase.

One of the best Loco's
This is the best of the best in HO. The quality is great, excellent detail, and specs. I prefer metal over plastic all the time, the sound is great, and the synchronized chuff and smoke is amazing! However, the actual pulling power could be better, and trying to "Consist" this locomotive in not easy at all, have not been able to do it so far. However, as far as I'm concerned, this unit has it all.
