German heavy anti tank Unit 653 in WWII
1 of 1 found this helpful What a fine piece of work. This has got to be to ONLY source on how the German army fought with these enourmous armored monsters. This book has everything you would ever need too know on the Elephant tank and the Jagdtiger tank. It includes support vehicles, field problems, train transport, you name it. This is a detailed accounting of the men who went to war in these machines. The author must have searched Germany high and low for vets of this unit. This book has their pictures of war. From shot up allied tanks, combat photos of there giants in action, to their own armor destroyed by various means. It includes photos of the soldiers, and the various Iron Cross some were awarded. For the military modeller there is great artist portrails in color of German tanks and support vehicles. This book was well worth it. It is a military resource on how to fight and field heavy armored units to this day! A work as solid as the iron in the machines and men of the German 653rd Heavy Tank Destroyer Battalion.
