Newest Model Gevallia 8 cup thermal coffee maker
1 of 1 found this helpful I just bought the Gevallia 8 cup thermal coffee maker directly from Gevallia. Unfortunately from my perspective it was a waste of money.
I initially tried to buy the old model, KA-865MW at the Gevalia website and they had a newer model online in its place and I didn't see this old model.
I had previously within the past 2 years, seen the old model online for about $18.00 which was a real bargain.
The new one cost me about $75.00 with shipping and handling.
In my opinion, which is only my opinion, the newer one is a piece of junk. The metal carafe which doesn't have any thermal liner that observe keeps the coffee luke warm for about 45 minutes and right out of the machine it is not hot and I have to microwave it to get it up to a decent temperature.
The top of the carafe has also jammed on me 8 - 10 times in the month I have owned it. That has caused the coffee to spill on the counter top and each time is spills it ruins about 20 feet worth of bounty paper towels to clean it up.
As best I can tell, no matter how careful I am, the filter will occasionally become depressed allowing grounds to flow through to the top part of the carafe. The top part of the carafe has knob like structure with very very narrow holes that easily becomes plugged by an errant coffee ground or grounds. When that happens the coffee instead of going into the carafe will follow the path of least resistance which means it overflows the top and trickles down the side onto the countertop and from there to the floor.
I had the old model that was given to me by my x wife that I used once a day for 5 years without a problem. It was great. It was a modern marvel at a very reasonable price. It couldn't have been any better. Finally about 6 weeks ago it burned out after 5 years and 3 months of daily usage. It made really good tasting coffee.
The older model never overflowed. The thermal carafe kept the coffee warm for at least 4 hours before it started to cool off and require the use of the microwave to warm the coffee up.
I am now looking for more of the older models to try to stockpile a few. I did find one on e-bay and purchased it, but lost out on the second one.

Good Value for a hard to find product.
This product is very hard to find and when you do find it then it is overpriced. I obtained this hard to find product from e-mail at a reasonable price.
As the proud owner of 2 IBM selectric typewriters I find that there are some things they can still do better than a computer, such as completing Express Mail Labels and Certified Mail Receipts or other multi part forms. However you have to be able to erase or lift off the typos and this correcting tape allows you to do that.
I stocked up and think I have enough to last me for the rest of my career.
