Awesome little device!
I bought this item so I could build a pfsense machine from an old hp mini itx low power board. That motherboard only had a mini-PCIE slot for the wireless card it came with. I had a quad port intel gigabit nic and I wanted to use it along with this low power machine so my router didn't take ups o much power. This adapter showed up about a week later and I tested it a little bit to make sure it could handle the routing load. The intel gigabit nic I have is a pciex2 slot I believe and with this adapter being edge less I was able to make it work. It can handle the traffic load I was throwing at it though I wasn't doing more than two ports then. One for WAN and one for LAN but I was able to get it to go at about 100 Megabytes or close to full gigabit. My clients are the bottleneck I think as I was using mechanical drives. I am not a good picture taker and I put it into production immediately after I was done testing so Ill have to get some pictures later but it has been on for over a week with no problems. Very happy with this adapter. If I need another I will be sure to come back!

Awesome for plex
1 of 1 found this helpful I bought this hoping it would work for plex media server. I am very happy with it. It draws ~160 watts at idle for me with 4 spinning disks in it. It displays 24 cores to my operating system that sees each thread as a separate cpu. It has been stable since I started it last week which I couldn’t say about my old system. Anyone wondering if the raid card supports Hba mode or it mode, for me it did not, but I have a card that does and with some mini sas to mini sas cables the card I have plugs right into the backplane! It is awesome. So much power for such a great deal! I didn’t use the raid card this time but I may in the future.

Great 24 port gbe switch for the money
1 of 1 found this helpful I bought this switch for $15 and $15 shipping so for 30 bucks it's awesome. It replaced my multiple desktop gbe switches. I like that it can be rack mounted but the rack ears I recieved aren't long enough for a 19 inch rack but I can remedy that. I like that it has the sfp ports in the event I need to add another switch connected by fiber cable. It sips power currently drawing about 11 watts. It is a little noisy with the 40 mm fan but it isn't designed as a desktop silent switch. Mine lives in my basement. Eventually it will be I stalled in my rack but the wires are terminated in the wrong place for that right now. It's hard to beat for $30. It is also a managed switch though I dont yet possess the skills to utilize those features so for now it is in unmanaged mode.
