Get Ready For A Wild Ride of Fantasy Adventure!
I have loved this movie since I first saw it in a theater back in 1985. All previous releases of it on home video, be it VHS or DVD, all seemed to come from the same dirty film transfer. This new blu-ray has fixed all of that that, and given me a version of the film that I will cherish. I just wish that Warner Brothers would have done a little more in the form of bonus features.

Any True Fan of the Original Film MUST Have This in Their Collection!
We have all seen this classic at least once or twice in our lifetime! But NEVER like this! Time-Warner, who took on ownership of this classic back when they bought Turner Broadcasting and the MGM library, have continued to shine with their restorations of some of our favorite films. The Wizard of Oz blu-ray is just another triumph of their restoration of Technicolor movies. The Technicolor process involved using three different reels of film to get the vibrant colors of these early color films, and those three reels were always synced in an optical printer to make the final print of the film. This mechanical process always had some elements a little 'off' in the final product. Warner Brothers was finally able to take all of the original three color elements and line them up via computers, allowing for a much better alignment of those elements, giving us the best presentation of the films that had ever been seen. We first saw the result in the late 1998 anniversary release, and boy was it awesome! This set includes the classic 1939 musical film on the first disc, with earlier incarnations and the television film 'Dreamer of Oz', starring John Ritter, and a couple of behind the scenes documentaries on the second disc. The third disc, is a double sided DVD that holds the extensive MGM documentary, 'When The Lion Roared', which is a great documentary in it's own right. This version of the blu-ray release is called the 'Emerald Edition', and is the only version of the film on blu-ray to include all of the excellent bonus features. This is one to keep!

The perfect edition of the prefect ADDITION to your film collection!
This is the truly penultimate edition of this classic war/romance film! My Mother attended the premier in Atlanta in 1939, and I still have her program from the night that is autographed by Vivien Leigh, Olivia de Havilland, Clark Gable and Margaret Mitchell. I was raised with this movie and book, always being a part of at least one conversation per week. I hold this movie dear to my heart, and you will too once you see it in its full grandeur! The bonus double sided DVD, with the MGM Studios documentary, "When the Lion Roared" is just a prefect addition to the package.
