Detects temperature in about two seconds.

I had a hard time when first opening the unit. Followed all instructions but the thing kept turning off within four or five seconds. Figured it was defective but then tried replacing the battery. That made it work properly. Guess the battery that was shipped with it was bad. Detects temperature in about two seconds.
