Fast cap is known for producing innovative tools which were developed by folks in the field, who came up with an idea to solve a problem they face. I own a different product for adjusting hinges on doors, but this an improvement and works well.

Almost the right solution

What i was looking for was a switch plate that is the size of a single DIN radio block out plate. This is just a bit smaller, so it fits in the DIN slot, but leaves a small gap. An ideal product would be a switch box which is the external size of single DIN radio, and has the screw holes/slots which are compatible with radio mounts. A lot of folks are modifying vehicles for off road use, and the radio is gone day one. Which leaves a nice space for switches, and nobody seems to be making a solution.

You Must Have Basees

The only downside to the Locking RailRiders, is that you must have the bases. (I guess now that there are a lot of 3D printers around a person could duplicate the bases and have a good side gig for a bit. ) The Locking RailRiders are all the same tower with only the mounting style of the base varying, and the 3 and 4 versions use teh same primary base, and add extrusions to it, to adapt tot eh racks on different vehicles. I have multiple pairs of bases, which are mounted on various vehicles. And then mount the towers and various appurtenances on rails with the towers preset for easy installation. Depending on what I’m doing. snow season, bike season, hinting season, or hauling lumber from the lumber yard each have their own rack set ups. The Control towers would be easier to interchange quickly, butt ten years ago when i started using the Yakima systems, the Control Towers were newer and more expensive. The RailRiders were common on eBay, and frequently found in thrift stores. Folks would sell the car with the bases still attached, and only realize afterwards that they needed bases, which Yakima was no longer producing. So they would buy complete new rack systems, to get the latest greatest system, and either sell the old one on eBay, or donate it to the thrift store.
