Death Note is a hit anime series
If you haven't seen Death Note yet then it is a definite must for anime fans. Before watching Volume 2 you have to see Volume 1 first (of course) to follow the story from the outset. It is addicting once you start watching it. There are 37 episodes in all and each volume contains 4 episodes. To give you a briefing on the series it is about a book called Death Note which a Shinigami from the netherworld drops to earth hoping someone will pick up and view it. The book gives directions on how to kill someone by just writing their name in the book and thinking about that person. By just writing the name the person will die of a heart attack within 5 seconds. You can also write how the person will die also. A brilliant Japanese student finds the book and starts using it. He then meets the Shinigami who dropped the book. The Shinigami then explains the rules of the Death Note. Once used, the person (Light is his name) who kills someone can then neither go to heaven or hell and lives on for eternity. Light then tries to create a perfect society by killing off all the criminals of the world and become a God-like leader of justice. He starts writing hundreds of names and people start dropping like flies. The only problem with that is someone just as brilliant ("L" is his name) working with the law wants to catch him and stop the madness that Light has started. It then becomes a battle of wits between Light and L. Since I am only on the 1st 8 episodes that's all I know for now. But I will be buying the entire series as it comes out. Jim M.

    Joe 90
I am a fan of Gerry Anderson so I know I will be bias by saying this is a great series. I never saw a Joe 90 show until I purchased the set and from the 1st episode on I knew this was a hit. The story line and pace of each episode is written like a Mozart symphony. Joe 90 is a 9 year old lad whose father develops a machine called the Big Rat which can take the brain waves of the worlds greatest minds and transfer them to another person (mostly Joe 90). As long as he wears a special pair of glasses he can be one the person whose brain waves were transferred which is where our plot comes in. He then goes to work for WIN (World Intelligence) who hire Joe and his father to help rid the world of the bad guys. Each episode has Joe on another mission to save the day. The special effects are so good you would think they were computer generated. The sound and picture quality of this series looks like it was just released recently but this show goes back to 1967. Overall I was totally satisfied with the series and have even more admiration for Gerry and Sylvia Anderson's Supermarionation ideas. Thanks, Jim Mascia

Archies Flophouse - The Complete Series
The first Archies series released on DVD was fantastic. The complete 17 episode series of the Archie Show from 1968 brought back many beautiful memories of watching Saturday morining cartoons. But Archies Funhouse is nothing more than a collection of one-liners that may have been funny as a child but for all of us in the 21st century will not find these jokes laughable at all. Every episode has the Archie characters in some short slap-stick situation that finishes with a terrible punch-line and it's on to the next terrible joke. I tried wwathing the first few shows but quickly gave up on it. I purchased it off of eBay and will hopefully be able to sell it (as much as I don't want to disappoint the buyer). My grade for this show is a D-. The only reason it wasn't an F is because I really like Archie and his friends.
