Good for GMRS
7 of 7 found this helpful I bought these radios to use for GMRS. The price is really good for radios that operate with about 1.5W output as compared to the bubble pack FRS/GMRS radios sold for over 4 times the price. However a bit of warning. You need to program the channels, they are not pre-programmed. The best tool for this is Chirp which a free program that can be downloaded. I tried finding the program provided by Bao-Feng online to program the radios and it is hard to find. The version I downloaded was stopped by my computers anti-malware software for being unsafe. Use Chirp, it is safer and easy to use.
Important, you need a USB adapter to interface with your computer. This is not included in the package.
I also like the fact that it comes with LI Ion batteries instead of NiMH.
