Excellent product - provides a 4G connection with load balancing and failover as a bonus
An excellent product. It supports load balancing and failover so it can take a SIM plus any or all of ADSL, Ethernet/Wireless connection and a USB 4G dongle and merge those internet connections into a seamless, very reliable, connection. A great way to not be dependent on those copper wires!
You can connect devices requiring internet access to this router directly. Alternatively, online searches suggest that a common pattern is to use a product like this and connect it with an Ethernet cable to something like an Eero. The Eero (or something like that) then provides a simple UI for managing home/office internet and some fancy WiFi features (though that won't make 4G any faster!) for your connected devices.
As a general note, the 2860 number represents a range of products, some a little older than 10 years, some a little less. For the 2860Ln model, L represents internal support for a 4G SIM and n represents 802.11n and a 2.4GHz wireless connection (again, it's recommended for any buyer to do an online search to confirm that!).
The web UI can be a little complicated but rewards time taken to get familiar with it plus the DrayTek online help pages offer some very good guides for specific tasks. Reviews often mention this router as aimed at SMB companies and enthusiastic amateurs.
DrayTek are generally well-regarded and seem to be good at providing security-related firmware updates even for older products (once again, an online search is always best to confirm all that).
