    Dry Divide
This is an old book, written by Ralph Moody as a part of his series, usually referred to as the Little Britches Series. The stories begin with Little Britches as the family moves to Colorado when Ralph is just 8 years old, then continues with Man of the Family, as Ralph becomes the head of the family and tells the story of their trials and successes, how they made money to get by. This is the 7th book in the series. Ralph is an adult, has been diagnosed with asthma and heads west. Thrown off the train with only a dime in his pocket, this story tells how he manages to live and prosper. His great respect for horses, and people, his ability to discern the character and abilities of those he is with, his negotiating skills, and willingness to take a risk are some of the great lessons to learn. Although most of the book and story are appropriate for children, it makes a great read-aloud so that the mature thematic elements and raw language can be edited as you go. We read the entire series aloud in our family with all ages included but Dad edited out the rough parts. It's sort of a Little House on the Prairie series with a boy as the storyteller. We purchased this copy of the book because we had been wanting an older hardback edition of this book.I believe the series is in print from the University of Nebraska in paperback and available for purchase from Sonlight Curriculum. Their website has detailed reviews of all the books in the series. Ralph Moody is an excellent story teller and it's great that he was able to remember so many details from his youth and childhood to pass along in these informative, heartwarming and inspiring stories.
The Book of Job - From the Translation Prepared at Cambridge in 1

Book of Job illustrated by Arthur Syzk Preface by Mary Ellen Chase
This is a beautiful old book. I was sad that the slipcase which I thought was shown in the picture, was not included. But the Book is in Nice Condition and the price was very good. This was published in 1946. There are 9 full color prints illustrating the Biblical story of Job from the King James translation of 1611. The preface by Mary Ellen Chase is quite lengthy at 11 pages. Another similar book was published about the same time The Book of Ruth.

A creative story for young readers and those listening to them read aloud.
This is a very fun series of stories by Russell Erickson. We have enjoyed his creative storytelling. There are several books in the series. This is the first in the series introducing toad brothers and their various interests and strengths. A very fun book. Check out a "Toad for Tuesday" and the other books in the series.
