ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC CAMERA
1 of 1 found this helpful I've purchased other items from Cameta before, to include three Olympus DSLR's lenses, and Nikon SB 600 flashes. All of the items although "factory reconditioned", were excellent in quality, fit, and finish. It was like buying a new item at a less epxensive cost.
However, the Nikon D5000 camera body I purchased, is in a class by itself. My family and I went to Monster Jam last night, and I took in excess of 500 photos AND numerous video clips, using the D5000. The quality of the photos were unsuprassed. The videos were HD in quality and were amazing.
If you are looking for one, all purpose, high quality, camera that does it all, this is the one. My wife was amazed with the clarity, punch (a photography term) and sharpness of the photos. I was using a Nikkor AF-S 70-300 VR lens and it performed magnificently. The lens isn't cheap, coming in at a bit over $500.00, just for the lens, but it was worth every penny.
The fact that you can easily switch between still photography and video with the simple pressing of a button is what caught my attention. I am going to produce both a DVD of the videos I shot and a CR ROM of the stills I took of these huge Monster Trucks leaping in the air. I used the burst mode for taking photos and I believe it was taking photos at 3.5 frames per second. The video is 720p HD. Nikon hit a home run with this camera.
If you want to step up to the next level, the Nikon D-90 would be the way to go. I've always used Nikon products in the past and am totally impressed with these camera systems. The SB 600 flash integrates very well with both the D5000 I have AND the D3000 I have as well.
Way to go Nikon!

Most bang for your buck
Easy to set up, easy to erect and to take down. We use this when we race and it works really well.

Paired perfectly with my Neewer Z1's AND my Q3's. READ THE INSTRUCTIONS. Also, this ONLY works when you shoot in Manual mode. There is NO TTL capability with this trigger. But then again, if you don't know how to shoot in manual mode, both camera AND flash/strobe, you should learn. TTL is over hyped. I want to control my lighting and exposure and not depend on a chip to do it for me.
