Teac CD-P650 CD Player with USB & iPod Digital Interface (Open-Box)

iPod connection for digital output makes a BIG difference
I used to connect my iPod with a 3.5 mm to RCA cable to my receiver... sounds pretty good. But connect your iPod through this cd player's USB input makes a big difference. This sends the iPod's digital signal through the cd player instead of using the digital to analog converter (DAC) that's in the iPod itself and sending the analog signal. Maybe you wouldn't notice if you had a very cheap receiver and speakers, I don't know. I prefer to use an optical connection from the cd player to my receiver and use the DAC in my receiver, but the cd player itself is very good too. Seems to me that using the cd player's DAC and using analog connections leads to harsher highs than if I use a digital connection and use the DAC in my receiver. But that's a personal preference and may depend on my receiver and speakers vs. others. CD's play on this player that were skipping on my old cd player, so that works well too.
