Interesting glimpse into the past
1 of 1 found this helpful If you like seeing how much society has changed in the last 70 plus years I recommend this video from film footage shot at the 1939 New York Worlds Fair. No tattoos, nearly all women wore dresses, all visitors are dressed as if they were going to church not the sloppy mess of todays society. The second largest worlds fair ever held it covered 1,200 acres and ran in 1939 and 1940. The footage is shot in the 1939 first year. All the footage is in color and gives an excellent idea what was included all over the expansive fair. Each section of the fair is covered and for the first time the general public was introduced to Television!
The several hours of film seems to accurately cover virtually all aspects of the great fair from the Grand Pavillions erected by the countries of the world, American Industry Exihibits of the major companies such as GM, Ford, GE and many others to the shows and amusments. Apparently the big mulitnational event had something for everyone in order to draw the crowds all the way down to the girlie shows and exhibits that included topless and nearly nude young ladies on display. Whoever shot the film did an excellent job no shaking or out of focus filming the only negative it is just a little grainey due to fact it was 8mm film. For the money a GOOD BUY.
