Incredible value for money - a great watch with lots of character.
9 of 9 found this helpful This watch may be a little traditional in size compared to the modern trend for oversized men's watches - I think it's 36 or 37mm - but perfect for my 6.5 inch wrists. I am absolutely staggered that Seiko can produce an automatic watch of such quality for such a good price. The watch so far is keeping good time about -7secs per day on the wrist which is well inside the parameters set by Seiko but this can be improved further by laying it face down on a cloth at night which speeds it up a little (the quirks of a mechanical watch). I love the look of the face and the fact there is a day as well as date, and also the finish: the watch is stainless steel (I think) and has a very matt, sand-blasted finish which looks great - it's a cross between a military watch and a dress watch and should be versatile. The bracelet is surprisingly good and perfectly matches the watch. With Seiko 5 watches like this Seiko often put the quality into the watch rather than the bracelet and I have heard horror stories about Seiko 5 bracelets pulling hairs out of your arm and being nearly as good as useless but so far this hasn't been an issue for me despite being a little ape-like myself. It should be noted however that the bracelet is not the easiest to adjust and you may need a spring bar tool or at least a sharp screwdriver and quite a bit of patience to remove links to get the bracelet to the correct size. The watch is very easy to read quickly - the end of the hands are very sharp which aids precise reading of the time and it also has good lume for viewing in the dark. In my opinion, for anyone looking to by an automatic/mechanical watch I think this is the best you can get for the price. It does lack a stop second hand function (hacking) and manual wind which may be an issue for some but so far this hasn't proved a problem for me.

Astonishing amount of watch for the money
I have been so impressed so far with the quality of this watch. Like most microbrand watches it is a ‘homage’ watch but unlike most modern microbrands which so often seem to style their watches on the Rolex Submariner this is a homage to the rarer Seiko 62MAS from the mid 60s - in my opinion one of the most beautiful dive watches ever made. I’m not quite sure why it is called ‘Tuna’ and ‘marinemaster’ as well as 62MAS because it seems much more like the 62MAS than anything else. The watch has a fantastic retro 60s vibe to it but with a contemporary 40mm size. I love the green sunburst dial which is bright but never garish. The quality of the watch is superb with a solid and well finished brushed and polished case and very nice lume filled hour markers and hands. The lume paint is a cream/yellow colour which works perfectly with the green dial and in the dark is amazingly bright and long lasting - way better than any of my other watches and often even glows in daylight - it is that good! The Seiko NH35 automatic movement inside is proving to be extremely accurate so far for a mechanical watch (+5s day on the wrist and 1s a day when off the wrist). For those looking a quality and stylish dive watch and don’t want to spend stupid money I can’t recommend this watch highly enough.
Pros:
- Great quality case and dial
- Incredible lume including a fully lumed bezel insert which is also very bright Swiss C3 Superluminova)
- Stylish, retro looks that set it apart from the usual predictable and ubiquitous homages that most microbrands churn out.
- Bezel insert is ceramic
- Crystal is domed sapphire not mineral glass
- Good bezel action with no ‘back play’
-40mm size (imo an ideal for most wrist sizes) my wrists pictured in photos are 6.5 inch circumference.
Cons:
- Not totally convinced about comfort of the rubber strap and feel a metal link bracelet or mesh bracelet would be more comfortable (although I personally love the look of this waffle strap)
- Screw down crown is fiddly to use if you’re not used to them and being a mechanical watch rather than a quartz one this isn’t a watch for those who just want to ‘Set and Forget’.
- Bezel markers don’t quite line up perfectly with the dial indices (minor detail).
- 40mm size may be too small for those with really large wrists.
- Warning: Sunglasses/welding goggles are not supplied for viewing the super bright lume in the dark 😎 (joke)

Lovely, good quality Seiko 5
1 of 1 found this helpful Lovely watch and superb build quality and finish for the price. The watch is a little small by modern standards so probably best for small to medium sized wrists. Looks a lot more expensive than it is. Dial looks almost black but then reflects a beautiful blue in direct sunlight. Accuracy is not as good as my other Seiko 5 but is perfectly acceptable and as I don’t wear it everyday it isn’t such an issue.
