Great Discovery
1 of 1 found this helpful By pure coincidence I was looking for a quicker way to sharpen some knives without having to use my stone. I happened to look at the cover of my Milk St. magazine and there was a great article on knife sharpeners. Of course this looks A LOT different than what I was expecting to see as one of their top picks. But, I really do respect all the testing Americas Test Kitchen does. So, I took a chance and ordered it. I do have a higher quality of knives, so I was a bit nervous. I read the easy directions and got to work. Please don't worry about having the knife blade up, I used a very inexpensive rubber/silicon place mat to use as a base, this was very convenient as a non skid base. As the directions promised, you're going to need to make a few passes at first and then a few more. I used a very ripe tomato to test sharpness as I went along so I had a sharp edge, but wasn't taking too much off. My dull knives never stood a chance against this "little" gadget! To say I'm impressed with this sharpener is an understatement. I'm so happy to have SAFE SHARP knives back in my kitchen and look forward to using all of them for the jobs they were meant for every day!
