Extremely Disappointed & Regretful
There is not much to setting up this humidifier. The water bottle is easy to fill at your double basin kitchen sink. The humidifier worked fine for the first two weeks humidifying our 3,200sf home whcih did require frequent bottle refills. The humidifier also had to be ran at the #3 speed setting. Alaska is very dry indoors during the winter. However, after the first 7 days of use, the humidifier stopped humidifying. The first reason is the water bottle failed to keep the reservoir filled even though it was placed correctly in in the humidifier. I discovered that by placing (3) 1/4" dowl rods along the top edge that it elevated the water bottle foot valve just enough to allow the reservoir to keep a sizeable water level. The wick on the other hand had dried out. Moving it into the bath tub to "re-hydrate" it helped for almost 5 days after which, the wick was almost totally dried out again. The only part of the wick that absorbs water is the bottom 1 inch Our humidity level RARELY reaches 35% with this humidifier and that is from readings from (2) separate hygrometers. The unit is plastic, not surprising. It is very flimsy not really worth the $280 I had to pay for it to get it shipped here. Dealing with the Aircare people in the beginning before purchase was not help as their goal is to simply sell. There is only one outlet I was able to find that sells console humidifers and all they sell are the individual room size - less than 500sf and then they are pricing at $100+. All in all, I WOULD NOT recommend this product. Too bad Aircare is about the only one that makes house size console humidifiers.
