Why don't more people know about this movie?
This Criterion edition is everything you'd expect: crisp video & audio and lots of extra features. It's a screwball comedy made richer by the almost deadpan delivery by the principal actors. Not to be missed!

Star power to spare
Every one of the actors is firing on all cylinders in this delirious comedy but it's Jean Harlow who steals the show as a put-upon fiancée. My only gripe is that the video transfer is rather scratchy at first but it gets better as the film progresses. There are no breaks, and the audio is just fine. For the price a good deal.

Beautiful print of a 1940 movie, absolut...
Beautiful print of a 1940 movie, absolutely flawless. As for the film itself, well, it isn't so much based on the book as on a stage version of the book. I would recommend suspending what one knows of the source material and just going with this glossy, witty, superbly acted MGM period piece.
