How does it adjust?? No instructions!

I bought this rack, arrived quickly. Was contemplating building one out of wood. Should have done that. I have had it for three days now, and can't figure out what the screw type things are for. It is supposed to adjust to fit compact or regular truck beds, but I do not see how it is adjustable. There is nothing to hold three sections together, and caps on end are just caps(do not adjust width of rack). I can not find any instructions anywhere, or see detailed pictures of how to build it so it adjusts and stays together. Guess I have an expensive floor rack for the garage. I would send it back, but return shipping will cost way too much as it comes from China. It would get better reviews if it only came with instructions, or there were pictures online.
