NEW Tektro FL750 City Bicycle Brake Levers Caliper or Canti - PAIR OF LEVERS
May 19, 2018
Repro of classic French with flaws
This FL750 brake levers are quite a popular choice for people redecorating urban bikes especially replacing a flat with a moustache or similar, more relaxed bar. The pull ratio is rated for linear (road), canti or miniV - badically most city bike brakes but some people use on other brakes. I use on old single pivot steel brakes on my shopper. You need commonly available MTB type cables not road ones. Price is very reasonable.
The problem is that there is not enough metal on the lever and the outer cable stop. Or I would say the alloy is too soft to offer confidence. Also the outer cable stop being soft makes the cable end pop out of the steel cable end holder. If you are riding with lots of "stop and go" in the heavy traffic it could be a fatal flaw. It's easy enough to put the cable. The only (and ugly) solution is to put plastic cable tie around the steel cable end holder once the cable is correctly installed.
I tested with different types of brake calipers from modern 105 short reach road brakes to old Raleigh steel three-speed ones. Also with different cable routing and different outer + inner cables. The result was the same. This lever
If you check Tektro has a similar but refined levers called CL740. The CL740 not only eliminated the outer cable end popping out but also added adjustable screw which was lacking in FL750.
So, if you are looking for the elegant look of the French levers you better choose CL740 but you should test them at a bike shop first.
TL, DR. FL750 bad, CL740 maybe good.

Lighter than other products in similar price range
I ordered this white version as my current magnesium pedals from another brand has scoffs and peeling paint problem on contact points. Also metal pedals are heavier.
E-PR100PP is a good, light pair of KEO-compatible pedals and any surface scratches can be easily cleaned off. I cannot comment on the longevity of the material and bearings yet however the pair seems to use common Exustar spindle, bearing and hardware so it is possible to do overhaul if buying new pair is not your option.
I also noticed that compared to magnesium pedals E-PR100PP absorbs vibrations better yet still let you pedal without losing force - don't get me wrong: they are not made of soft materials but have advantages over metal counterparts.
There is a minor problem though - the Exustar "Keo Compatible" cleats supplied with may fit Look Keo and other Keo compatible pedals OK but they don't really accept Look cleat covers. The shape of the cleats are slightly different where the covers fit. You can file the cleats to fit, squeeze the covers or get Exustar covers. It is not just Exustar's problem but also the same goes to Xpedo brand Keo compatible pedals common on ebay which have cleats much wider where the covers go so Look covers won't fit at all. Exustar cleats can be squeezed in Look covers but unnecessarily tight and may stretch and crack the Look covers one day.
So that gives the product 4 stars. If you already have Look original cleats on your shoes this will be an ideal pair of pedals for training and competitions.

Suitable for dressing your road bike
I got this after searching for the right pink - more like Giro pink than Barbie pink. The colour is just perfect.
It's a set of classic quality outer / inner cables without fancy kevlar or other protective or transparent layers. Just good old solid colour outer cables. It flexes just right for mounting on drop handlebars. Plenty of ferrules included. Very user friendly.
