THESE MONSTERS REALLY FIGHT!
Bought this for my husband, but I am also a fan. The human actors are campy and over the top at times, but that is probably standard fare for decades ago when this film was produced. The "dinosaurs" are lizards and crocks with horns and collar rills glued on, but the fight between two of them is real and violent, so if that sort of thing makes you squeamish, better steer clear. I saw this when I was very young and it made an impression. What impressed me then still impresses me today. It was a blast from the past to see it again, and is worth a look to first-timers.

Secondhand Lions ranks "First" in what makes a movie great.
I have always LOVED this movie and had loaned it out so much and to so many, that I lost track of who had it last. When I saw that it was now produced in Blu-Ray, I latched onto me a copy which I keep here at the house for my own viewing pleasure. Pleasure - that is a key word for this movie, a movie of tremendous pleasure. You learn all the lessons this movie teaches in the same classroom that the actors do - lessons that touch the heart and leave you changed. Uncle Hub's speech on "What It Means To Be a Man" is priceless. I would recommend this movie to ANYONE that wishes to invest their time and their money well. It's worth it.
