Great card for Analog Video Capture, be aware of all the extra work needed to set it up.
The AIW 9800 Pro is an AGP (Advanced Graphics Port) card which is not PCI or PCIe compatible. It was designed for motherboards from the early 2000's and works with Windows 2000 and Windows XP. In some cases it may work with Vista and 7 but your mileage may vary. The ATI company has long since been absorbed by AMD (in 2005) and "signed device drivers" required by Microsoft on all 64 bit versions can be hard to find, if they exist (mostly they do not exist). - Its (Best Use) is as a video capture card. The "9" in the model number indicates this card was designed for DirectX 9 which was released with Windows XP SP2, the 128MB memory was not as important when used as a Video Capture card. This card also (unlike) the AIW 9600, 9600XT, 9600Pro cards (does NOT) require a special 24 pin DIN breakout cable for (monitor) connection. It has a simple DVI/VGA connection on the back plane of the card.. making it a much safer buy than any AIT 9600 model if you unfamiliar with AIT 9000 series cards. It does however (absolutely REQUIRE) the purple Barney dinosaur Input breakout box. If it doesn't have the 'purple box' you can only use it for output, not Video capture. The card has an old Analog NTSC tuner, not digital so will not play Over the Air digital TV signals. Audio is decoded but not captured by this card, instead it has and output connector on the back to plug a jumper connection to the Line Input on a separate Sound card in the same computer.

Great SD capture box for software do it yourselfers
A great Windows 7 x64 break out box by Pinnacle / Avid. It is totally powered by the USB connector so no extra wall adapter is required. Standard Defintion (SD) video only and it is not an NTSC or ATSC tuner.. so this will not work with Windows Media Center. It works good with the DirectShow driver available from Pinnacle or AVID if you can find it (comp_drvmbox.exe), for x32 or x64 from XP through Windows 7. Modern Corel Pinnacle versions do not support it. The only capture software that works with it easily is GraphEdit from the DirectX developer kit. You have to create your own GRF files to build up a capture tool to screen or avi file.. but its reliable. You also have to have a signal on the Composite or S-Video input before starting the graph.. and the DirectSound output has to be used as the Clock to make it go. All Pinnacle drivers are not easily addressed by DirectX video capture software, their audio device interface is not well exposed.. so you have to use GraphEdit or VLC for capture. The Pinnacle or AVID software can be installed with a key, but can no longer be activated through internet servers so they run in 30 day demo mode and are only certified for XP or Vista. Corel acquired the property of Pinnacle / AVID but do not backwards support the older products.

One of the BEST VHS capture devices ever made
This model was designed for Windows XP Professional or higher, but not designed to work with Windows XP Home (it will not work with Home, confirmed).
I found it works better, even with Windows 7 x64 Professional using the GraphEdit program from Microsoft.. but it will not work with most video editor software with only its driver. There is a "trick" in that assembling the GraphEdit "Graph" has to be put together entirely manually, and configured by the output pin to 720x480 (480i) manually before connecting the AVI decompressor to the Renderer.
But otherwise it is Rock solid, it also needs to have the Graph "clock" set to the DirectSound device and locked. Then its one of the best Video Capture devices I have ever seen. (Technically) it is capable of HD which is 480i but it does not capture at 720p or higher.. so you have to realize its from the older NTSC days not the post 2009 days of HDTV.
My usage is to double click the saved GraphEdit GRF file and immediately click [>] to run the graph and it locks on and starts immediately.
You should also be aware, like a lot of driver installers, it installs broken or false DirectX filters, this can cause GraphEdit to "crash" when trying to open the DirectShow branch of filters in the inspector.. The Filter Merit "filmerit" program by Paul Glaga will inspect and let you remove "broken" DirectShow filters from the registry.. you do have to unpress the lock to do so.
