What are they serving at Table one ???
When Peter Bogdanovich set out to make a modern screwball comedy, it could easily have been a disaster. Movies like Bringing up Baby, it Happened One Night and My Man Godfrey happened in such a different age...a much simpler time. Audiences weren't afraid to set aside their disbelief and laugh at the ridiculous. This movie proves all that wrong...Barbara Streisand is marvelous. Madeline Kahn in what I believe is her screen debut is off the hook as Eunice Burns. Ryan Oneal in maybe one of his most appealing roles is the perfect foil...Thank goodness Will Ferrell wasn't around to muck it up.
