Entertaining & Engaging BBC Radio 4, 4-Part Dramatization!
1 of 1 found this helpful First time listening to a BBC Radio 4 audio CD. This is like listening to a play, as there are British actors doing the vocals w/sound effects, i.e. you'll hear shops' bells tinkling when someone enters, horses hooves/carriages on cobblestone streets, or paths, the sounds of a match striking, etc.
The Raj Quartet is 4 "books" with the subject of the British in India during WWII, spanning a 4 year period. That is the historical backdrop & a point for the story; however, these are human interest stories. There is intrigue, mystery, family drama, crime, w/some characters from each book carrying over into the others. Yet each book has its' own story. The actors bring the characters to life. It's 9 CDs, which I thought would probably take me many months, but this is so engrossing, it was about 2 months.
When your eyes have had too much screen time, this really hits the spot. I've already purchased several other BBC Radio 4 Dramatizations & an audiobook. I like having hard copy media. Sometimes during power outages, power's restored hours before cable is. Pays to have DVDs & CDs.

Engaging musical genre mash-up, which works thanks to exceptional artists!
1 of 1 found this helpful Very enjoyable, fresh, eclectic sounds from Lake Street Dive...new discovery for me & really terrific alternative, indie band doing funk, soul, a little jazz, southern r./folk mixed together - a real mixed-bag! Sounds like it'd end up a mess, but these extremely talented songwriters, musicians, vocalist bring it!! Needs to be heard to be appreciated. Highly recommend!
