monteverde makes great pens
this is a lovely oversized acrylic pen with a nice stainless steel nib. if you're a fan of that 149 size, a pen about the size of a large cigar, this is one of my favorites in that size range.
the acrylic is beautiful in person. it's durable with a great nib.

great fountain pen!
super reliable, it's never had a hard start or a railroad, it's probably the single most reliable and quality fountain pen i own. it's super portable—i keep it in my bag at all times and it's never leaked or misbehaved on me. the quality control on this thing is really good; everything is perfectly aligned and flows perfectly.
the only downside to this pen is that it requires a special converter (other converters are too long) and most of the offerings cost almost as much as the pen itself!
right now I'm waiting for a pack of cheap standard converters from china so i can modify one and make it the correct height without destroying any converter that i rely on.
if you use ink cartridges and just want an easy, portable, reliable fountain pen that you can use and abuse, i would highly recommend this one!

great product to mess around with
very cheap diodes, they do their job perfectly. none of them have broken on me. really good practice for the aspiring laser hobbyist to solder and mess around with. the diode emits relatively directional light, so they'll make a spot on the wall the same size as the diode without adding any lenses or anything. you don't even need a driver for these, they'll fire properly hooked directly to the terminals of any battery with voltage between 1 - 4.2 (those are the ones i have tested, so the range is probably bigger)
