Works well; Make sure Your Sony Camera is Compatible!
This Sony Hotshoe adapter either fits the Sony Handycam hotshoe or it doesn't; MAKE SURE YOU SONY CAMERA IS COMPATIBLE WITH THIS ADAPTER!!. In my case I have one Handycam that is included in the list of cameras that is compatible with this JJC MSA-MIS Hot Shoe adapter (and it worked perfectly) and I have another model Sony Handycam that is NOT on that compatibility list and it would not work at all in that Handycam.

Limited Product Application but great if you have the right camera!
This Sony ECM-W1M wireless microphone system will work properly on only a few Sony cameras and camcorders, so be sure and check the list of compatible cameras that Sony provides. This wireless microphone system works well with my Sony HDR-CX675 Camcorder (which is on the list) and, as expected, it does not work well with my Sony HDR-CX580 (which was NOT on the list of compatible cameras). Note that the mic transmitter uses a single AAA battery for its power source but the receiver's only power source is a compatible hotshoe found on SOME of Sony camcorders and cameras. I have not done extensive testing with it yet, but other reviewers have suggested that the may be a line-of-sight issue which, for me, is not a problem that can't be worked out with a little planning.
