Long-lasting, sweet, floral and ultra feminine!
I have been wearing Jessica McClintock perfume for many years. I usually wear it for special dress-up occasions. I often gets compliments on it and people ask me what I'm wearing. It is more long-lasting than other fragrances I wear or have worn in the past and I just love it! For a long-lasting perfume, it is not over-whelming. Sweet, floral and ultra feminine.

H. P. Lovecraft major influence on modern horror and science fiction writers
1 of 1 found this helpful I have been reading Lovecraft's works since I was in high school. (I'm retired now). The man's incredible imagination, command of the English language and powers of description have always amazed me. Ask any popular current writer of horror or science fiction (like Stephen King and Clive Barker). They'll tell you that they discovered Lovecraft before they began their own writing careers and were profoundly influenced by him. This is huge volume and contains many stories written in Lovecraft's youth that I had never read before - which was the main reason I purchased it as a Christmas gift for my son (but we share it!) It's a beautiful and very complete volume of his stories. Personally, as much as I like Edgar Allan Poe (particularly his poetry), I prefer Lovecraft's short stories to Poe's. Reading a great Lovecraft story always leaves me feeling somewhat anxious, intrigued and wondering about the famous quote from Hamlet (somewhat paraphrased here), "There are more things in heaven and on earth than are dreamed of in our philosophies."

Poignant, complex, beautifully written and acted - but no Hollywood ending!
1 of 1 found this helpful The 1978 film Ironweed is based on a Pulitzer Prize winning novel of the same name by William Kennedy (who also wrote the screenplay). I first watched Ironweed many years ago on HBO and, although it is not an uplifting or happy movie, I have always loved this film. Both Nicholson and Streep well deserved their best actor Oscar nominations for their brilliant portrayals of very complex characters - two people who once had a life, but due to tragic circumstances, fell about as far as a human being can fall by1939, the final year of the Great Depression. Mentally ill, alcoholic, virtually homeless, starving, haunted by their pasts - no one watching this film will expect a Hollywood ending. I am a playwright and most of my full-length dramas deal with the 1930's and the Great Depression. Given that, it was only natural that I would be drawn to Kennedy's masterful book and this very powerful and poignant film. (I am also a fan of Tom Waits who plays a marvelous supporting role in the film). If this extremely challenging period in America's history interests you, and you admire brilliant screenwriting and superb acting, definitely check out Ironweed.
