If it isnt 10 or more years old is repairable or still works. Then it shouldnt have been made. Also companies have no right telling me or anyone what technology is obsolete. Reuse, Repair, Retrofit, Repeat, then after that give away, or recycle:)

Infocus Lp540 / Lp640 3 lcd projectors.
I included both because they are essentially the same except for the 640 having a vga in and a network interface. In my repair of these and comparisons with others I find that these are still much better in correct color display than all of the LED lamp projectors I have tested. The lumen output on these compared to power used isn't that bad at 250w. Many led projectors claiming 1500 lumens or more start at around 100watts just to power it. The unfortunate thing with these is the bulbs, but you can get some real good ones for about $30. In my experience a tv is made to run long hours while a projector is made for short term viewing because it can create a lot of heat and it can breath in lots of dust(that includes dlp tv's). I have found hdmi to s-video converters that work quite well if you are output signal challenged due to cheap manufacturing.

The Corn Stalker is unique
I find the Corn Stalker to be of a sturdy construction. A person does have the unmentioned option to leave out one set of support legs if its height would exceed your ceiling without any problem. I found myself touching up some paint on the pumpkin head because one spot allowed white light to come through that really stood out. The arms may be slightly bent to your taste because they can tend to be straight forward out of the box.
It was easy to set up. You may often need a short 2 prong extension cord to reach a power strip or other power source; because the length of the power supply cord may be enough to plug into a wall directly behind it. You should also make sure that no wires or the costume can be caught in any moving parts. You should also bend back any joint connection pins that might catch on anything. I do think that this one could be kept up through Thanksgiving as well.

Unic UC40 and all of its rebrands
This projector is a lot brighter than the UC28. The colors and osd menu are better, but have similarities. This is wvga 800x480 meaning it is not 1080p. In fact most cell phone and tablet screens that people squint trying to watch videos on are in fact not true HD. So it is really simulated inside the aspect ratio display area. Keep in mind resolution and aspect ratio are not the same thing. Aspect ratio is the perimeter and the resolution is the amount of pixels used for the image drawn within it. Wikipedia has more info on display resolutions if you are interested. The native resolution is a little higher than a crt tv. So text and graphics will look slightly better than on a vga tv. High resolution text will be more distorted in cases depending on the font size. This projector does have a good distance to projection size ratio, and since it uses a wide LCD any 16:9 HD or wide-screen dvd images will look more true to form. Although you may want to set it at 4:3 if you don't have the available area for the width, but want a taller more compact viewing area. Like it would look on a crt tv. As with all projectors, ambient light is an enemy. A bed sheet does work, but is very inefficient and you will be disappointed at the brightness if you use one for a screen. I can't vouch for any exact lumen ratings because it depends on the projected image, the surface, and ambient light. I do find this does focus pretty easily and isn't too loud when running. The ones I had don't seem to exit the menu with the remote esc button, like some other Unic projectors do. It can get a little warm, but not hot after extended use. Internally I have only seen one mono speaker. The Led is cooled like a laptop cpu, so if the fan fails it won't be good. I do think the main control chip should have had some active or passive cooling employed on it, because it will get uncomfortably warm to the touch. Even though it says you can charge through the USB port, I really think you should think twice. If you put a big power sucker like a battery pack on it or a big nearly drained tablet, it may overheat the voltage regulator and damage it. It is better to use a dedicated charger to prevent that. The one thing I think is lacking on these is a vga port. Yes vga is still more versatile than hdmi will ever think it can be and it isn't fragile. Keep in mind that all projectors will have visible pixels depending on how close you are the native resolution and projection size because of simple magnification of a small display to make it bigger.
