batteries are not included and is your responsibility
It is light weight and well constructed. Caveat is that the batteries you use will determine how well the unit performs; i.e. old tired batteries will lose charge quickly and cycle only a couple minutes of prime cutting time.

Read carefully
I've read through the discription, and no where was there any mention of possible problem with recording onto tape. The camera powered up and functions all worked, it was just that when you went to record there was "banding" and luckily I was able to get a copy of the manual. There was a slight problem with the recording head of the camera. It appeared to be some kind of residue that prevented clean recording. If I hadn't read the manual I would have been very disappointed at the quality, but as the manual instructed I used a "head cleaning" tape which cleared off the problem.
