Disappointed in Disc Quality
5 of 6 found this helpful Great story line and acting. Unfortunately, the quality of the individual discs themselves is very low. I finally made it through Series 2 after struggling to get the discs of Series 1 and 2 to work properly. I even purchased a brand new DVD player. Now on Series 3, I've had to use three (3) different DVD players just to begin watching the first disc. The individual discs break down when playing and the words don't match the mouth movement, so I have had to move to yet another DVD player. Hope to eventually get through the entire series, but realize that it's going to be a challenge. Probably the producers and writers would not be pleased to learn that the disc quality used in this boxed series is not up to BBC standards. A lot of time, expense and effort were expended in the creation of this series and it's very disappointing to have to fight with every single disc and even some individual episodes just to get them to work properly on one of my now many DVD players. Other DVDs work perfectly fine on all my DVD players, so I'm pretty certain that the problem stems solely from the disc themselves. I've have purchased many BBC series from online sellers over the years and this is the first time that I've ever run into these sort of disc play-back issues. I'd recommend scaling up the quality of the materials involved in manufacturing any future Lark Rise to Candleford series disc sets.
