Excellent intoduction to the study of Renaissance portrait medal

The book is an excellent introduction to a neglected, but hugely important subject of the renaissance medal. Brief, intelligently written, and well-illustrated, it is as good an introduction as one could possibly wish.

A brillianly narrated and superbly illustrated book on the origins of the Renaissance

This is a first-rate overview of the material related to the emergence of Renaissance in Florence. In separate essays, artistic and intellectual aspects of the Renaissance are discussed; catalog entries for individual works that follow are highly illuminating. The photography is superb. Quite simply, it's a great book.
