Color Match Success
I was looking for a match to a fabric that I didn't purchase enough material about 4 years ago (so of course it's no longer produced)... plus, I didn't know the name of the fabric, only that it was a batik. While this isn't a batik, it is a surprisingly good match, so much so that if I use it on a different portion of the quilt, I don't believe anyone will know the difference.

Great author, consistently good books in this alternate world setting.
I am not generally a fan of vampire-werewolf-witch type books. However, I stumbled across this author, and she is my sole exception. Briggs provides a consistently good read (12 books in this series and counting), and "Burn Bright" is no exception. Strong characterization and likable characters written in a deft voice and a tempo that gives detail but moves the the story along without slow spots.

A challenging, thought-provoking read
Half the time I don't know what they're talking about, the language and concepts are so foreign to my "Western" way of thinking. That's not a criticism, just a limitation of my world-view up to now. This book challenges many of the foundational ways I have been brought up to think and believe, which is at times very painful (and I bought the book because I was already in pain because things had fallen apart in my life). There are chapters that make no sense at all, perhaps because my mind and soul are not yet ready for what they have to offer. There are other chapters whose words pierce deeply and whose truths resonate, which is why I have not put this book down despite it being a difficult read. I feel there is much insight to gain and wisdom to learn if I will allow myself to not 'shut down' simply because I don't appreciate my initial response to what I am reading.
