Not What I Expected
I bought the Pearly Gates pickups to upgrade from some stock Epiphone pups that I put in a used SG. I made before and after videos and didn't hear much difference. They sound fine but they're not exceptional in any way.

I did it my way
Although this guitar came with "upgrades" I undid them and put in different components of my own choosing. I took the Grover tuners off and put original Gibson tuners on. I did not like the red tortoise pick guard so I changed it back to original black. The Duncan JB pick ups were also replaced with Seymour Duncan pearly gates pick ups. The JB's that came with the guitar were not exactly right. I believe it came with two bridge pick ups instead of one neck and one bridge pick up. But I knew I was going to make all of these changes when I bought the guitar so they are not complaints. The main reason I bought it was because I like the black special faded look and that series has a master tone and master volume control which I prefer for simplicity.

Hard-to-find parts
Since I opened my guitar repair shop I have had many guitars come across the workbench, many of which it's hard to find parts for. This resource is great for that.
