Prepare for emotional exhaustion.
Couldn't call this film entertaining when viewed years ago. Devastating might be a better word. For me, the film was far more insightful than trivialized attempts at milking emotions with the Anne Frank story. You weren't told what was happening or manipulated by emotional moments, you lived it with the protagonist who was a marvel to follow. Very reminiscent of Solzhenitsyn in Gulag Archipelago or, better, One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisov.

Low budget and small lapses here and there but the hero and his girl are engaging and it is enjoyable.
