A very good, bright rechargeable light.
This is my 4th Streamlight product, having owned a Scorpion two of the Pro-Tacs. I have always been pleased with Streamlight's quality and value compared to other high-end lights. I bought this light in hopes of eliminating some my dependence on the expensive CR123 batteries that power the other lights. This light is larger than the standard Pro-Tac HL, or I should say longer, as the head is actually smaller. The output is a bit higher, 850 lumens vs. 750 at peak, but the perceived output is not that different because the USB version's fixed throw is much wider that that of the standard HL. This is my only complaint, as I feel the throw is a little too broad/diffuse, and I wish it were abit tighter or had the ability to be focused. For the price, I don't think that would be too much to ask. I also felt the instructions that came with it were a bit spartan, especially regarding programming features. I still don't know if the LED charging indicator ever turns any color but red to show that it's plugged in/charging or if it cuts off once charged. These are minor quibbles, though, as the light more than suits its intended purpose, and does it well overall. Of course, in buying it on ebay, I found rechargeable CR123 batteries too, so I may be evaluating which light/setup I like/use the most.

Solid compromise in a tactical/sport scope
12 of 12 found this helpful I bought this for my AR-15 in hopes it would be a compromise between pure red dot sights and a longer-range scope. It is, with a few caveats. The piece is very solidly build, and the glass is very clear. I like the choice of red or green for the illuminated reticle, as well as the fact the etched crosshairs can be seen well in daylight if the batteries/illumination ever fail. The 3x magnification is enough for shots out to 150-200yds, which is what I wanted for coyotes/varmints. At closer ranges, the scope can be used almost like a red dot for faster target acquisition, or a smaller red dot combat sight could be mounted on one of the 45-degree rails on the scope, if needed. Vortex' lifetime warranty provides peace of mind. Once mounted, I was able to get it on the paper at 25 yards easily, and then back out to 50 and 100 to dial it in. I did not have a lead sled, so I may need to fine-tune the 100 yard zero further, but adjustments were simple and accurate. Overall, very pleased with the item for my intended use.
