Really good choice for the non-smartphone user
1 of 1 found this helpful Bought this for my mom, who doesn't use smartphones. The 4052R is super easy to set up and use, has large, easy-to-press buttons and nice, readable displays. It has a decently solid feel to it, so it should survive the occasional fall. We upgraded from an older Alcatel flip phone and I could instantly hear a big improvement in the call quality. Battery life seems very good so far and I like that the 4052R supports 4G. AT&T branded, but using it on Cricket (which uses AT&T's network) with absolutely no issues. Really good prices on these now, too.

Very easy to install and the best self-tensioning chains for the price
There's a lot to like about these tire chains. First of all, buying open box was a steal compared to buying these "new" and the chains I received were new. And, they're chains so, unless they've been driven on, there's not much that can go wrong with open box. As for the chains themselves: I've used cable chains in the past that used tensioning bands, but wanted something with a bit more bite that still met S-clearance spec. The idea of self-tensioning was a bonus. Well, these chains have been a game changer: They are the easiest to install chains I've ever used and it took me only a couple of minutes per wheel on the first try in the dark. The self-tensioning mechanism looks like it might be a weak point (plastic case on the cam and wire cable tensioner), but is standing up fine to use so far and is SO much more convenient and quick to use than wrestling tensioning bands into place with cold hands. The chains provide great traction and stay in place and tensioned just fine (just stay under 30mph, which you should do anyway in conditions that warrant chaining up). If you're concerned about scratched wheels: The Auto-tracs have red plastic-coated sections where the chain might contact the wheel, to help prevent scratching, but the coating is thin and probably won't protect long if the chain actually starts hitting the wheel. I'm using these on 60-section tires and the chains seem to stay off the rims. However, if you're using these with lower profile tires or you're extra cautious like me, here's what I've done: I cut short sections of garden hose and split them on one side. I then slipped the hose sections over portions of the coated chain sections and zip-tied them into place. The hose is low profile enough not to affect chain fit but adds a little bit of clearance off the wheels and acts as additioonal rim protection even if the chain does slip down onto the rims. I've had no issues running it this way. I cross-shopped the Auto-tracs against the Konig self-tensioning chains and, for the price difference, the Peerless Auto-tracs are the way to go.
