RCA's DVD/VCR -- lots to be desired
I bought this equipment because I needed a combo DVD/VCR to replace one I had given to one of my children. The DVD record/dub function seemed to be an added bonus. While this machine has a good to excellent tuner built in, its record and playback modes leave more than a little to be desired. The VCR playback is about of the same quality I got decades ago when I used a pin to 'play' a vinyl record (yeah, I'll cop to being that old!). It worked, sort of, but not very well. I quickly put this on a shelf in the garage and replaced it with a new Samsung combo from one of the major retailers. The Samsung doesn't have a tuner, but it is so far superior in every other way, that I don't miss the tuner at all. Besides, I've got those in the TV and DVR anyway. Who needs three? If repair/return were any guarantee that I would have ended up with a better piece of equipment than before, I would have spent the necessary high price to ship for repair or replacement. But, as with a lot of other things, there was no assurance I would be any better off after spending more money on an unsatisfactory item. I just counted it as tuition in a class I chose to drop. Would I buy it again, or recommend it to a friend? No, absolutely not. Especially if I wanted to keep the friend.

Makes me look good to the taxman.
All Turbo-Tax products make it easy to do one of the most onerous jobs that every American taxpayer must do each year to stay out of trouble with the taxman. The only thing I've found that it won't do is stretch the bank account to make it possible to pay the taxes without diminishing the bank account. It does make it possible to file the annual report without errors in math or create problems with the filing activity itself. Thank you, Intuit!!!
