- 6***t (794)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseNice item. Well packaged. But, two boards inside got dislodged during transportation. As such, it didn't work at first. Since I knew this could happen, especially during the last leg of transportation, I wanted to hold the package at final Fedex location. Alas, the seller put a restriction on the package. It appears that seller was not experienced with such shipments. I sure hope he learned now. I decided to put a pos note for his humility & excellent communication. Fix to the radio was easy.

Sensitive receiver with nice features
1 of 1 found this helpful The Realistic DX-440 shortwave radio is quite a nice radio. Though, I can't call it a "little" radio, since it's pretty large by today's portable standards - I would call it more of a "porta-top" radio. It has excellent sensitivity, and pulls in a lot of signals with its (quite large) telescoping whip antenna. I have not tried my outdoor antenna with it, so I'm not sure if the front end would be susceptible to overloading. It picks up many of the signals that my more sophisticated base receivers pick up. It has an RF gain control, and a BFO pitch control for fine-tuning when listening to SSB signals. I don't particularly like the slider controls for volume and tone - I would prefer that these were dials instead. There is a very nice full-size tuning knob on the side - good feature. However, when tuning with the dial, there is a "chiff" sound created while cycling through the frequencies - quite annoying. Not sure if there might be a "mod" out there to deal with that. Direct entry of frequencies works well. My biggest complaint with this radio is the LCD display. Although it is clear and the characters are large, there is no way to change the contrast of the display, so it's quite hard to see when the radio is in anything but a completely vertical position. It also does not have a way to keep the display light on, except by holding down the "light" button - and the light is just a single bulb (!) to the right of the display, which is not too helpful, and certainly not as nice as newer LCD displays. However, the radio does receive quite well, the audio is very good, and this radio can often be picked up for a bargain used. I'm glad to have it in my collection.

Best metronome that I've owned
1 of 1 found this helpful The Boss DB-60 is everything that you could want in a practice metronome. Lots of great features, with a clear and large display that can easily be seen when the metronome is up on a music stand. Compact form factor that can easily fit in most instrument cases. Highly recommended.
